Branding Mt. Kenya
Kenya produces tea and coffee of such fine quality, taste and aroma that they are used for blending lower quality products from elsewhere. The bulk of the highest grades of the two products have their origin in the Mt. Kenya region. The unique quality has to do with the mountain climate and the soils associated with the volcanic eruptions that formed the mountain three million years ago. The same volcanic soils are also responsible for many other high quality agricultural products from the region. The main mandate of the KNCCI Central Region Office is to package the Mt. Kenya region, its wide range of products and services, diverse tourist attractions, and investment opportunities as a brand and market it to the rest of the country, to the East African region, the continent and the international markets.
